Get Out: Artist Reception, the 'Little Mermaid, Jr.' or Music Series

It’s the weekend, and you're still trying to decide what to do for the weekend. You're in luck. Sewickley Patch is here with five ideas to enjoy.

1. Chatham Baroque

 When/Where: 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at St. James Church, 200 Walnut St.

Why Go: The Chatham Baroque will be performing Christmas music from the Americas called “Continental Christmas” with tenor Joseph Gaines as part of the St. James Music Series.

Admission: $10 adults; $7 seniors (55+) and military; Kids 12 and under free.

2. SAI Opening Reception: Pretty Functional

When/Where: 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at 419 Beaver St., the former Chico's space.

Why Go: Featuring works made in glass, metals, plastics, ceramics and wood, all works in the exhibition are of the highest levels of craftsmanship including six Pittsburgh-area artists. The exhibit continues from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. For more information, click here.

Admission: $7.50 per person. Register.

When/Where: 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Quaker Valley High School auditorium. 

Why Go: Quaker Valley Middle School's Drama Club will present Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr. a tale of young mermaid Ariel, who is sick of living under the thumb of her father, King Triton, and longs for a new life in the world above.

Admission: $10 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. Tickets will be available at the door one hour before the show.

 

4. Trans-Siberian Orchestra

When/Where: 3 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 at Consol Energy Center, 1001 Fifth Ave., Pittsburgh.  

Why Go: The holiday tradition returns when the Trans-Siberian Orchestra performs their debut "The Lost Christmas Eve ."

Admission: $40 to $83. Get tickets here.

 

5. Leetsdale Children's Christmas Party

When/Where: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16 at the Leetsdale Municipal Building community room.

Why Go: Bring the kids to enjoy activities, food, snacks, and of course a visit from Santa. The party is for kids 12 and under.
