Why Go: Join the weekend-long grand opening celebration of the latest Market District grocery with Whitney Miller, winner of the first title of MasterChef on Fox television. Miller will share her story and recipes and sign her new cookbook, Modern Hospitality: Simple Recipes with Southern Charm! Veggie artist James Parker will sculpt vegetables into works of art all day long on Friday.

Why Go: Pittsburgh International Children’s Theater, a division of The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, presents the live stage adaption of Charlotte’s Web based on the Newbery Medal-winning book by E. B. White. This 60-minute play is recommended for children ages 5 and up.

Admission: $11.

 

When/Where: 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday at .

Why Go: The public is invited to help in the fight against hunger by creating bowls to donate to Just Harvest, a local organization that works to alleviate hunger and poverty. A Sweetwater instructor will be on hand during two open studio sessions to assist participants. The bowls will be to Just Harvest’s “Empty Bowls” dinner fundraiser in March.

Admission: $3 members, $5 nonmembers.

 

New Year, New You!

When/Where: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the .

Why Go: Learn the basics of yoga postures and their benefits, followed by a discussion that includes quick and easy tips to help you stick with your New Year’s resolution. Wear comfortable clothing to move in, as participation is encouraged. Presented by CMN Nutrition Group and the Lotus People.

Admission: Free, but registration is required.

 

When/Where: 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Saturday at , Sewickley. 

Why Go: Take your musical talents to the open stage in front of a friendly live audience. Don’t worry if you can’t carry a note -- you can always stop by just to check out the local talent.
