Why Go: The public is invited to join the  (OSPOC) in the 100th anniversary celebration of the building, now the headquarters of  and the Sewickley Valley Historical Society.

When/Where: 2 p.m. Saturday in Rea Auditorium, .

Why Go: Get behind the scenes of World War II’s Pacific theater to reveal the truth about the kamikaze — the “suicide bombers” of their day. The Risa Morimoto and Linda Hoaglund film will be followed by a discussion on how the ideas presented in the documentary challenge stereotypes.

When/Where: 7 p.m. Saturday at the Pittsburgh Public Theater.

Why Go: Chicago's famed Second City comedy troupe brings its popular "Laugh Out Loud" tour to the Steel City.

Why Go: The is hosting a Model Railroad Open House. Three toy trains will be given away at random times during the day.

Why Go: Sewickley's is accepting entries for . This exhibition will feature work created with wood where shape, material and surface texture imply compositional movement. Participants must apply ahead of time to take part in the event.

Why Go: Families are invited to bring their blankets and snuggle up for a family-friendly film. Snacks will be provided for movie-goers.

Why Go: Geared for children 6 and up, the interactive program uses props and posters, along with a live bird from WildbirdRecovery, to help participants discover the natural history, adaptations and habitats of Pennsylvania's nocturnal birds of prey. Why Go: Women 18 and over can start the new year off right with diabetes testing offered by St. Matthews' own Sisters With A Purpose (S.W.A.P.) and Sacred Health Ministry.

Admission: Free. Participants should refrain from eating on Saturday until they have been tested.

 

When/Where: 6 p.m. Friday at the South Park outdoor rink.

Why Go: The team will face Westmont Hilltop in the PIHL charity outdoor game. Proceeds benefit UPMC Brain Cancer Research in honor of Dave "Ziggy" Zeigler, who died of brain cancer in 2010.

Admission: $5 pre-game, $7 on game day.
