Sweetwater Takes A New Spin on Rumplestiltskin

Local elementary students performed Rumplestiltskin at the conclusion of an intensive acting camp in Sewickley.

On Saturday morning, 30 elementary-aged children performed "Rumplestiltskin: A New Spin" at , to conclude their weeklong intensive acting camp.

The musical theater workshop ran from Monday, July 18 through the Saturday, July 23, leaving the kids only five days to prepare for Saturday’s performance.

Although there was only a week of preparation, the hilarious spin on the classic tale of Rumplestiltskin was complete with costumes, props and a set.

By the end of the first day at the Sewickley workshop, campers were transformed into a full-blown cast.  Dylan Parda, who played Maurice, the miller, sang sweetly and hit every note perfectly.  Sophie Sabo made a perfect princess Samantha, cracking the audience up, and Claire Foley put a sassy spin on her character, Rumplestiltskin.

With 14 musical numbers, many of them choreographed, and all of the spoken lines in between that had to be memorized, it’s safe to say that director Lisa Gojkovich helped craft a wonderful performance.
