Leetsdale Police Net 19 Arrests in Drug Sweep

The Leetsdale police department with the help of the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office arrested 19 people Monday morning for various drug-related offenses.

Leetsdale Police Chief James Santucci said three additional suspects have not yet been captured. Three others facing charges were jailed prior to bench warrants being signed Monday.

Santucci said the "65 Corridor Narcotics Investigation" involved a yearlong narcotics investigation with the help of police in Sewickley, Ambridge, Edgeworth, the Allegheny County sheriff's department and the AG's office.
The Ambridge police department also arrested nine suspects on drug-related charges Monday in Beaver County.

"I'm very proud of everybody that's been involved and I want to make sure that these low-end and mid-level dealers know that they can't come through Leetsdale or on the Route 65 corridor without finding one of us right there to take care of it," Santucci said.

Santucci said "thousands upon thousands of dollars" worth of drugs were being trafficked through Route 65, which led to a multi-agency investigation and arrests in various communities. The drugs included Oxycodone, marijuana, heroin, methamphetamine and crack-cocaine.

Residents of Leetsdale and Sewickley were rounded up along with residents from Moon, Ambridge, South Park, Hopewell, and Pittsburgh.
