12 Days of Christmas: Hyde Travel Service

Give the gift of travel this season. Hyde Travel Service, one of the oldest businesses in Sewickley, is celebrating 50 years this month and has packages available to get you anywhere, anytime.

Small businesses carry a variety of unique and creative gifts for holiday shoppers. For the next 12 days, Patch is highlighting some of the local businesses and gift ideas available in and around Sewickley. Today is the eighth day of Christmas.

If there is a person on your list who loves to travel, Hyde Travel Service, 634 Beaver St., Sewickley can help you chose the right travel package. 

For 19 years, owner Linda Hedin has worked the family business, for awhile with her dad and now on her own. Her family has operated the Hyde Travel Service in Sewickley since 1962.

On Dec. 2, the Hyde office marked 50 years of doing business in the borough.

Hedin has traveled all over the world and has first-hand knowledge on what to suggest and what you can expect. Whether it's a trip to Disney World for the entire family or a cruise for two to the Caribbean, she'll assist you.

"I've been practically everywhere. I've traveled my whole life," she said. 

So if you're planning to travel sometime over spring break, or hoping to whisk someone away over winter break, Hedin said there is still time to surprise your loved one with the gift of travel. She does offer this piece of advice:

"The further you book in advance, the better deal you’re going to get, but we do last minute things all the time."
