Changes Abound at the Sewickley Starbucks

With an anniversary, a new logo, and a remodel on the horizon, Starbucks reinvents itself.

Coffee addicts, listen up: your beloved Sewickley will be closed Sunday through Thursday for renovations.  The new improvements in the store, however, aim to be well worth the wait.

“The renovation will include new floors, ceiling, paints and the long-awaited extra seating,” said store manager Stephanie Scherer, “and that’s just a few main items.”

In addition, an oven will be installed so that customers can enjoy warm pastries and sandwiches, she said.  The warming oven will be available for customers starting on March 28.

Coincidentally, the Starbucks logo changed just as the store is being remodeled.  According to Scherer, Starbucks remodels its stores every five to 10 years “or as needed.”

The coffeehouse giant released its new logo on Tuesday in celebration of its 40th anniversary.

Starbucks released a statement saying that the logo unleashes the Siren, “a mythological figure who represents the romance and creativity that inspired the founders of Starbucks 40 years ago.”

“We are coffee and will always be coffee, but we are so much more than that," Scherer said.  "The siren represents our commitment to our customers, our partners, our communities and our coffee growing regions.”

Visit Sewickley Starbucks on Friday to see the store glow in its new-logoed, remodeled glory.

And don't forget, there are plenty of other places in the village, such as Bagels or , to get your coffee fix.
