There were even rumors in the air about stores planning to stay open late the first Thursday of every month.

Fashion week isn't just for New York City anymore and has undergone some changes in the past few years.

Of course, the big move to barcodes on invitations and the move last year out of Bryant Park, a shocking step with a happy ending. The first Fashion's Night Out was in 2009.

This year Stylelist, Patch's AOL sibling, partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue to be the official media partner for Saks for Fashion's Night Out.

Originally the brainchild of Vogue Editor Anna Wintour, the idea of Fashion's Night Out was to drive everyone in town for Fashion Week into the stores to help boost a flailing retail economy.

In three short years Fashion’s Night Out spawned a life of it’s own, complete with celebrities, goodie bags, crazy store antics, contests and more.

The fun spread like wildfire, and Year 2 marked a nationwide celebration to kick of the fashionista’s favorite time of year. Larger retail chains including Barneys, Neiman Marcus and even Macy’s stores had their own mini Fashion's Night Outs in larger cities all over the US. Last year Macy’s in downtown Pittsburgh got in on the fun.

Cities known for their shopping (think Georgetown) had blocks of celebrations in boutiques and salons of all sizes.

For the first go around in Sewickley, this was a great night for what will surely become a local tradition.
