Fondi's Gourmet Market Plans to Close

Store owner and chef Paul Fondi announced the store will close April 30, after 10 years in operation.

After 10 years of operating in the village,  Gourmet Market will close its doors at the end of April.

Paul Fondi said he and co-owner Yvonne Fondi don’t have plans to renew their lease for the family business, which sells specialty meats, fish and cheese.

“Our lease is up, and it’s time for us to move on,” said Paul Fondi, the chef.

The two have raised two children, Paul Fondi said, and they did what they set out to do when they opened the store in 2001.

Paul Fondi said he and his wife divorced five years ago and now it’s "time for us both to go our separate ways."

He said they are working with their landlord to find someone who would be willing to take over the deli. If someone is interested in the business at 428 Beaver St., he said, by all means, come in.

“Come in and look the place over,” Paul Fondi said.

The family-owned market is offering hot Lenten specials before the April 30 closing.  On Fridays, Manhattan clam chowder and macaroni and cheese are available hot, while fish sandwiches are served everyday.

In addition to selling gourmet foods, Fondi’s often assisted customers with food preparation.

Earlier this month, the Fondi’s sent an email to customers announcing the impending closure. The store owners said they’ve enjoyed providing quality products to customers over the years.

“Thank you for the opportunity to have served you for the past 10years."
