Mak Studio to Close in Sewickley

When Kirsten McCormack thinks on what she'll miss most about Mak Studio, her thoughts go directly to the customers.

"That's what I'll miss, talking to people," she said.

McCormack, owner of the teen and tween fashion clothing store, has plans to close after operating for about three years in the business district.

McCormack said business has been slow, including a dismal holiday season with sales down 43 percent from the year before.

"And then by spring when we normally pick up, it didn't."

Mak Studio was previously located for a year in the Nickelodeon Mall, before relocating to the current space at 431 Beaver St.

The store is currently offering huge mark downs on clothing, merchandise, display items and more.

McCormack said she plans to be open Friday, June 14 for the special Sewickley Night Market, and will have wine and cheese for shoppers.

The store's last day is Saturday, July 13.

McCormack said the storefront won't be empty for long. There are plans for a fabric and sewing store to open, offering sewing classes and related merchandise.

McCormack also plans to maintain her painting and art studio in a private section of the space.
