From Tough Circumstances, Motivational Speaker Finds Calling to Help Others

Nancy Stampahar will discuss how to "Re-ignite your Business…and Yourself," as part of the Sewickley Valley Chamber of Commerce's speaker series.

Raised by a single mother, Nancy Stampahar became an at-risk teen who dropped out of high school. Her experiences helped shape the person she is today and her passion is helping others.

“All of my tough circumstances gave me this way about helping others…it just tends to be a good fit for me,” she said.  “That’s what I have found my calling to be.”

An author and motivational speaker, Stampahar offers training to help motivate small business owners to reinvent their business.

She will be in Sewickley on Wednesday, July 17 to discuss how to “Re-ignite your Business…and Yourself." The Sewickley Valley Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the seminar at the Penguin Bookshop, 420 Beaver St., as part of its "Professional Development Speaker" series.

Stampahar said the seminar will help attendees avoid becoming complacent and discover better ways to reinvent their businesses.

“People like fresh and new ideas,” she said.

Stampahar said she tailors her message to her audience, because she works with women’s groups, non-profits, and in the fields of health care, education, and academia.

Originally from Lawrenceville and Mt. Lebanon, Stampahar left Western Pennsylvania for many years before returning 20 years ago. She earned her bachelor's degree in human resource management and found her calling as a catalyst for change and respect.

Through her consulting business, “Silver Lining Solutions,” Stampahar said she now works to empower others to live a better life.

She is the author of the personal growth book "Peace, Love and Lemonade: A Recipe to Make Your Life Sweeter." And she has created an empowerment cooking web show called “Life in Nancy’s Kitchen.” The show uses food to teach life skills and offers recipes that not only fill your belly, but also feed and nourish your life using wit and wisdom.

If Stampahar wants her audience to “find their passion, she might whip up her hot, fiery salsa recipe. If her message is to stop being pulled in too many directions, she may offer a related recipe – in this case, pulled pork.

“There’s some desserts, pasta, appetizer, it’s a full menu,” she said.

Next week, Stampahar will provide practical business reinvention methods, customer service techniques, and personal growth insights to energize and inspire action. After the workshop, attendees will be able to participate in a question-and-answer to address matters related to their business.

Stampahar also hopes to debut her new motivational DVD at the end of her upcoming presentation. The DVD and a cookbook won't be available to purchase until after Sept. 1.

Stampahar said she likes knowing that she has helped someone. She is passionate about helping people follow their dreams, live and work better.

“I’m really about making a difference,” Stampahar said. “That’s the most rewarding.”
