'One for the Money' Film Premiere Parties Sell Out in Ambridge

The movie featuring Katherine Heigl will be released on Jan. 27.

Two movie premiere parties planned later this month in Ambridge for the One for the Money film opening have sold out, according to the Ambridge Area Chamber of Commerce.

Jeremy Angus, executive director of the chamber, said there was overwhleming demand for tickets to the Jan. 27 premiere of the film starring Katherine Heigl. The Ambridge Theater is one of the local venues that will be showing the comedy-romance-thriller on opening day.

One for the Money was largely filmed in Ambridge, with shoots in Pittsburgh as well. Angus said due to an overwhelming demand for the first premiere party -- the theater can only accommodate 122 people -- a second show was added. Both shows are now sold out, and no other reservations can be taken for the event, he said.

Heigl, known for her former role on Grey's Anatomy, was rumored to be staying in during filming, which took place over the course of three months in the summer 2010. Heigl plays Stephanie Plum, a character based on Janet Evanovich's popular book series. An out-of-work Jersey girl, Plum turns in desperation to her bail bondsman cousin looking for a job with his office, according to Bing.

The gala celebration will begin across the street from the theater at "Plum's Bail Bonds," a store that Marlene Verigood owns, which is featured in the movie. Besides a ticket to the Friday night show, the $20-a-pop premiere party will include wine and cheese, One for the Money memorabilia and a red-carpet photo experience, according to the theater's Web site.

Angus said tickets were sold on a first-come, first-serve basis based upon the time the messages were received at the chamber offices.

The chamber is handling reservations and fielded 300 to 400 phone calls, many from out of towners, looking for four or more premiere tickets, he said.

“The demand has been incredible, and I want people to know that we are doing all that we can to process their ticket requests and make do with the availability of space that we have," Angus said.

He is encouraging those who want to attend the premiere party to contact the chamber to be added to a waiting list.

Angus said the Ambridge Theater is also playing the movie at other times and dates. For more details about movie times, check the theater Web site at ambridgefamilytheatre.com.
