Reminder: Deadline Nears to Join Penn’s Corner CSA Program

Co-op of family-owned farms brings fresh produce to the neighborhood.

Spring means fresh fruits and veggies are available again, and the Penn’s Corner Farm Alliance is helping provide the best of locally grown products to your neighborhood.

is the pickup location in Sewickley and time is running out to become a member. Memberships for the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) will be accepted until April 2, and the program begins April 11.

Consumers don’t have to be a member to take advantage of the farm share, but they do have to be a member to participate in the weekly CSA program, in which boxes of fresh produce are delivered to pickup locations throughout the area.

The organization is a good way to support small-scale farmers and provide consumers with fresh, local produce, said Karlin Lamberto, CSA manager for Penn’s Corner.

“There’s about 30 farms within an hour and a half drive of Pittsburgh,” Lamberto said. “We’re really talking about truly regional family farms. There are several Amish farms, and most are all small-scale farms.”

  • Cranberry Township: Westinghouse (for employees only).
  • Scott Township: Borland Road.
  • Monroeville: Cortland Drive.
  • Churchill: Orlando Place.
  • Green Tree: Warriors Road.
  • Whitehall: Gardenville Road.
  • Mt. Lebanon: Woodhaven Drive and Briarwood Avenue.
  • Dormont: Windemere Avenue.
