Search for 'Where's Waldo?' Ends, Grand Prize Winner Revealed

This year's event in Sewickley attracted even more participants.

Where's Waldo? He's on the ceiling of the Penguin Bookshop ... for now. Waldo will continue his game of hide and seek in Sewickley next summer.

The second annual Where's Waldo contest ended on July 31 with even more participants and business partners than the first in July 2012.

For the entire month of July, dozens of businesses in Sewickley had the sneaky, striped-shirt man hiding in their stores. Participants hunted for Waldo and got their "passports" stamped if they found the dorky-looking guy. The participants with completed passports were entered for prizes on July 31. A number of neighborhood businesses donated items and gifts cards for the event.

But the grand prize when to ... (drum roll, please) ... Kate Steinfurth. She'll receive a complete set of Where's Waldo? books and a $100 gift card to Penguin Bookstore when she returns from vacation.

Tess Riesmeyer, co-manager of the Penguin Bookshop, organized the Where's Waldo? contest. She said she received a lot of positive feedback from participants who discovered local shops they would have never visited without the event.

Number of participants: 120 teams, up from 80 in 2012
Number of businesses involved: 24, up from 18 in 2012
Hardest place to find Waldo: Sewickley Public Library, because he was hidden by the kids
Kids' favorite spot to find Waldo: In the balls at Sewickley Sporting Goods
