Sewickley Boutiques Polish New Year's Countdown Looks

Wrestling with what to wear out on New Year's Eve? Try our suggestions for a memorable ensemble -- and night.

No matter if you'll be dancing to tunes by Snoop Dog or Dan Fogelberg, if there's ever a night to shine. it's New Year's Eve.

You'll want to look your very best at the stroke of midnight, whether your plans involve getting glam for a group or lying low with loved ones. Sewickley Patch turned to the local experts for their guidance on what's hot -- and right here at home -- to wear while you're singing "Auld Lang Syne."

  • Make any outfit count with a statement bag.  Try an oversized leopard print by K.I.T. ($68) or a chrome-studded silver-and-black hobo by Big Buddha ($95). Both at 350 Beaver St.
  • Look the part. Chic, messy updos are all the rage. Get your locks lifted at ($33 and up). Then put your best face forward with a cosmetics application ($45) at Sean's, at 431 Beaver St.
  • Be Mani-Pedi ready with long-lasting and funky printed fingers and toes, using the Minx system at ($45-$70).
  • Let your inner diva shine through in the perfect dress.  Think Milly's strapless and pale pink frock, with a rose petal skirt and a black ribbon belt ($486.50).  Or go for gold in Nicole Miller's sequin-and-tulle fitted dress, with a sexy spaghetti-strap crossback ($485). Both , 425 Walnut St.
  • Headed to a more casual event?  Slip into at 431 Beaver St., No. 1, and then slip on a sleeveless polka-dot shirt that's sexy but classic worn alone or under a fitted jacket ($108). Add skinny black denim from IT Diva Curvy jeans that will take you beyond those everyday cuffed boyfriends but still keep you comfortable enough to dance all night($78).
  • And the icing on your look -- for the big night, and every day of the New Year? Stunning 2.07 carat sparklers, courtesy of Orr's Jewelers at 532 Beaver St., to set off your own fireworks. The 46 fine-cut Belgian diamonds drop into a flower set in white gold. Dress them up or down but wear them everyday to make 2011 bright ($5,250).
