Sewickley Bridal Boutique Plans to Close

Jeannette Russell Bridal Couture is having a closing sale through mid- to late-December.

Jeannette Russell Bridal Couture will close its doors next month, according to the store’s owner.

“This is it,” owner Jeannette Russell told Patch.

Russell said all of the merchandise in the bridal boutique at 421 Broad St. is currently on sale, from wedding dresses, evening gowns and fabrics to jewelry, antiques and furniture. Organic items are also for sale, including soy candles and organic perfume.

All the sewing machines and mannequins have already sold, she said.

“We’ve been selling everything. It’s all going to go.”

The sale is expected to run through mid- to late December, when Russell will close the doors for good.

The bridal boutique opened two years ago at its Broad Street location, but Russell said she has been a couture wedding gown and cocktail dress designer for 30 years, which included a previous store she had around the corner for 12 years. The gowns have even been featured in movies and television, and they have worked for various celebrities and prominent socialites.

Russell said she made a choice to pursue her other passion: writing health books. But she won't completely leave the business world. She plans to still be in business online with a health store.

“Just a different business,” she said.

The storefront is now available for rent in a high-traffic location. Russell believes something good will come in her place.

“”Somebody could do really well here,” she said. “It was a good space for us, I just think we need to move on.”
