Sewickley Oktoberfest Serves Up German Music, Food, Drink -- and Dachshunds

The two-day event concluded Saturday following two days of music, food and drink.

Sewickley's inaugural Oktoberfest wasn't lacking in entertainment, particularly one of Saturday's highlight events, the race of the Das Dachshunds Dash.

Spectators lined along the short race track to watch as the dogs--in three separate heats--scrambled to the finish. The top dogs then finished with a "best of" race that crowned Winston the overall winner. Watch the video to check out the race.

Other entertainment Saturday included a student dance performance from the Pennsylvania Academy of Dance, and music by Conrad Ostertag, German accordionist and mustache extraordinaire and The Continental Dukes.

Sewickley's two-day Oktoberfest concluded Saturday night.

My wife wanted to check this event out so we did. Boy were we disappointed. What a joke. It was nothing but people drinking and playing ridiculous games. We talked with others who were there who thought it was just the most ridiculous thing. Cornhole and a dog race in Sewickley? I didn't think the town was that desperate.

@Guy Sewickley Oktoberfest seemed to be just another event to help the local stores, which you can't really complain about, except that EVERY STORE IN SEWICKLEY THAT IS GOING IN BUSINESS BECAUSE ITS TOO "EXPENSIVE"

@Guy and @Travis, I am very sorry that neither of you enjoyed the event. Sewickley Oktoberfest was actually a fundraiser for Village Green Partners, a local non-profit that works to improve the town of Sewickley. We had over 1,300 people attend the event over the two days and it was so well received that we are making it an annual event. Hopefully you will give it a try again next year.

Mike and I had a wonderful time on Friday night. We enjoyed the music, the fresh air and the fun times seeing our friends. It reminded me of when PUMP put together Market Squared. It's the same concept. Getting people to come out on a friday night after work for some fun near home!
