Sheetz Plans Grand Opening Celebration at Mt. Nebo Location

Grand opening festivities are planned for the new Sheetz off the Mt. Nebo exit of Interstate 79.

Following months of construction work, the newest Sheetz store is prepared to open Thursday off the Interstate-79 Mt. Nebo exit in Ohio Township.

As part of the grand-opening festivities, the store is having a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday at the 1910 Mt. Nebo Road location.

Stacy Jones, Sheetz spokeswoman, said the first 50 customers in line will also receive a $100 Sheetz gift card, good for food and beverages.

"We expect people to be in line before dawn," Jones said.

Joe Sheetz, executive vice president of finance and store development, is expected to be joined by Ohio Township, Sewickley Borough and Allegheny County officials for the ribbon cutting.

"This is the last time they'll unlock the doors to the Sheetz. The doors will never be locked again," Jones said.

The new 6,300-square-foot store on the Sewickley Hills border will be open 24-hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year. The store will sell gasoline, made-to-order hot and cold foods, and will have a full-service espresso and smoothie bar.

Jones said the new store will employ 40 to 45 workers and add $3.5 million to the local and county tax base.

Games, prizes and other giveaways will take place. Sheetz also plans to make a $2,500 donation to the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania, as part of the grand opening.

This is the 225th Sheetz store for the Altoona-based chain in Pennsylvania.
