Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Heads to Sewickley for Harvest Festival

Steel City Ghostbusters and Big Bang Comics are partnering to make an impressive appearance at Saturday's annual festival.

The word on the street is that "movie folk" have been to scouting locations for a new Tom Cruise project. While that might make you want to jump up and down on Oprah’s couch, a real movie icon will be making an impressive appearance at Saturday’s annual .

Towering 25-feet tall, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, star of the first Ghostbusters movie, will be greeting ghost and non-ghost at the corner of Broad and Beaver.

is partnering with Steel City Ghostbusters to bring the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to this year’s , but this is not the Ghostbusters first foray in the Village.

“Well, Sewickley Harvest Fest has become a regular event for us, and we are excited for having Dave Bishop at Big Bang Comics offer the opportunity to us,” said Sam Swope, one of the SCG’s leaders.

Bishop is a big fan of the Ghostbusters movies.

“Who isn't?” exclaimed Bishop.

Swope and Bishop said their favorite character from Ghostbusters is Dr. Peter Venkman, whom Bill Murray portrayed.

“I’ve always been a big Bill Murray fan,” Bishop said.

“Peter Venkman is the ladies' man of the original four, and I like to think of myself as the ladies' man of our group,” Swope joked.

There is even more going on at .

Besides the Steel City Ghostbusters and Stay Puft, Bishop said D.C. Comics artist Chris Burnham will be in-store from 1 to 4 p.m.

“He's been drawing Batman Inc. with superstar writer Grant Morrisson. He's also done other work on Batman and Robin, Amory Wars, and Officer Downe - just to name a few. He’s a great
artist, and we're excited to have him on hand. He'll be answering fans' questions as well as signing items and doing sketches,” Bishop said.

Burnham, who lives in Chicago, is a former local whose parents reside in Sewickley.

Should we be concerned that the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man will reanimate?

“There is always a danger that could happen, which is why we'll have plenty of Ghostbusters on hand - just in case!" Bishop said.

What about getting slimed?
