A steady decline in gasoline prices means motorists are shelling out less than they did a week ago or even a month ago, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge.
In Western Pennsylvania, drivers are paying 6.9 cents less at the pump this week for a gallon of gasoline compared with last week. AAA reports the average price for a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline locally is currently $3.572 vs. $3.60 last week.
On average, motorists are paying about 12 cents less than they paid a month ago, AAA reports.

The backstory: News that Libyan rebels have taken control of Tripoli, that country’s capital and leader Muammar Qaddafi’s final stronghold, is encouraging for global oil supply, though there is not yet a clear timeline for when Libyan crude production may be back up and running.
Amid the fighting, Libyan crude production has been removed from the global market. Libya normally produces 1.6 million barrels per day of crude oil — 2 percent of global oil consumption.
