5 Things to Know This Week

1. Sewickley Unleashed

The fourth annual Pet Parade is open to all people, pets, groups and organizations with celebrity judges. The event includes a 5K, numerous pet-related and animal-themed vendor booths, food, family activities, non-profit organizations, grooming and professional services, and pet adoption and foster organizations. 2. Child Health Association Golf Outing

The Child Health Association of Sewickley is having its second, biennial Golf Outing on Monday, May 13 at the Allegheny Country Club. The outing will honor Jim and Carolyn Bouchard with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the "Investing in Every Child Capital Campaign" to renovate the Sewickley Valley YMCA child care facility.

The day begins at 9 a.m. with tennis. followed by a luncheon featuring Clint Hurdle, manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Golf begins at noon with a shotgun start, scramble format. An evening reception concludes the day with cocktails, food stations and an awards presentation.

3. Sewickley Library Spring Rummage Sale

The Friends of the Sewickley Library will host their second annual Spring Rummage Sale from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 and from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 19.

4. Quaker Valley Prom

Quaker Valley's grand march promenade begins at 5:15 p.m. on Friday, May 17 in the high school auditorium, where the prom queen also will be announced. Prom is at the Embassy Suites in Moon with this year’s theme being “A Night in Versailles.” 

5. Ambridge Nationality Days

The Ambridge Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 48th annual event that runs Friday, May 17, Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19 with arts and crafts vendors, food booths, live entertainment, and a parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The event includes a Miss Heritage pageant, ethnic foods and entertainment. Children and young adult art will be highlighted this year.
