5 Things to Know This Week

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. May Mart

The annual event sponsored by Sewickley Civic Garden Council is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11 on Broad Street between Beaver and Thorn streets. May Mart will feature plants and garden accessories supplied by local garden clubs and vendors.

2. 'All Dolled Up'

"All Dolled Up" is a musical comedy written, composed and choreographed  by three Quaker Valley eighth-graders for their "Creative Showcase of Innovation" project. Emma Szuba, Parker Redcross and Beth Fleming are directing the show they created together. The free show is at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 11 in the middle school auditorium.

3. Zoning Hearing Meeting

If you're interested in seeing how the zoning hearing board functions, the board meets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meetings are held in Council Chambers on the first Tuesday of every month and begin at 7:30 PM

4. Wallflowers at the Bookshop

Sewickley Library Teens are partnering with Penguin Bookshop for an after-hours movie night. A recent release filmed in Pittsburgh will be showing, plus a discussion about the magic of mixtapes. Event includes snacks and crafts. The first 20 to arrive get a free mix CD. 

5. Mom and Me...and Maple Syrup

Celebrate Mother's Day from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 12 at the Sewickley Library with a special storytime. Ages 4 to 10 with mom can share stories, sing songs and make a special treat--pancakes. Substitute moms are welcome. Registration required.
