5 Things to Know This Week: Penguins Cup, Easter Egg Hunt and James Blaine

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. YMCA Summer Camp Registration

The Sewickley Valley YMCA will begin taking summer camp registrations today, March 18. Click here for Patch's guide to summer camps in Sewickley and around Western Pennsylvania.

2. Penguins Cup Championship

The Quaker Valley hockey team has advanced to the Class A Penguins Cup championship and will again face the Mars Planets. The game begins at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 20 at the Consol Energy Center. Tickets to the game are $7 for students and $12 for adults and can only be purchased at the door. 

3. Disney's Cinderella KIDS

The fifth grade drama club at Edgeworth Elementary School will perform "Disney's Cinderella KIDS" at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 21 in the school gym. Admission is free. The fifth grade drama club includes 39 performers and a three-member stage crew.

4. Easter Egg Hunt

The Sewickley Public Library will host an Easter Egg Hunt from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19.  Come to the library for the family program and find all the hidden eggs. There might even be one or two with a surprise hidden inside.  Please register. Check back with Patch for a complete list of local Easter hunts and events. 

5. James G. Blaine: The Forgotten Man

At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, John Kroeck, president of the Sewickley Valley Historical Society will give a PowerPoint presentation on James Gillespie Blaine, unsuccessful Republican candidate for President of the United States in 1884.  He will cover the highlights of Blaine's life, with emphasis on his ties to Western Pennsylvania and the Sewickley Valley. Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served after the program. Learn more here.
