Veterans to Share Stories of War and Peace

The Veterans Breakfast Club invites the public to 'A Celebration of Veterans' Saturday June 16, when vets from various conflicts will speak about their experiences.

The Veterans Breakfast Club is inviting the public to join veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan as they share their stories of war and peace.

“A Celebration of Veterans” is from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 16 at Soldiers & Sailors in Pittsburgh. The event is sponsored by the Veterans Breakfast Club, a non-profit that hosts monthly story-telling events for veterans in four locations around Pittsburgh.

Members of the Veteran Voices of Pittsburgh, a transmedia oral history project, will be on hand to record the veterans’ stories.

“This event is a chance for people to hear inspiring stories of service,” Todd DePastino, executive director of the Veterans Breakfast Club, said in a news release.  “Most of our veterans are from World War II, but a growing number are from Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.  The stories they share will make you laugh and break your heart, often at the same time.”

The event costs $20 per person, which includes brunch, a story-telling program, and self-guided tours of Soldiers & Sailors.
