Allegheny County Offers Aquatics Test for Park Lifeguards

Would-be lifeguards seeking summer work at Settlers Cabin may take the test March 30.

The Allegheny County Parks Department will hold aquatics tests at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at North Allegheny Senior High School for lifeguards seeking summer employment at pools in county parks.

Lifeguards must pass the aquatics examination in order to be considered for positions at Settlers Cabin Park in Robinson, as well as the North, South and oyce county parks for the 2013 season beginning on June 1.

Applicants must be age 16 or older. Before taking the test, they must provide a doctor's certificate of a physical examination, a completed application form and a minimum of four references on the back of the application.

Candidates must also present a current lifeguard training certification, current first aid certification, and current adult, child, and infant CPR certification prior to May 27, 2013.

Hourly pay scale for park lifeguards is: $8.25 for junior lifeguards; $9.25 for first-year lifeguards; and $9.50 for senior lifeguards who have worked for two or more seasons.

For additional information, application forms and driving directions, contact the park office at 412.350.2478 or www.alleghenycounty.us/parks.
