Earth Day Events Planned in the Sewickley Valley

In honor of Earth Day, various organizations are sponsoring events and activities in the community.

Great American Cleanup

Leetsdale Borough

Leetsdale will host its cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 20. Gloves and bags will be provided. Meet at the Leetsdale Borough building.

Moon Township

Moon Township will host a litter cleanup from 8 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20. Meet at the Moon Township Municipal Building.  

Findlay Township

Findlay Township and North Fayette Township will host "Community Clean Up" from 9 to noon Saturday, April 20. The event begins at the Findlay Township Activity Center's lower level, 310 Main Street Imperial. Robinson Township

Robinson Township will hold its clean up beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20. Meet at Settlers' Ridge Giant Eagle Cafe for a continental breakfast before heading out to clean up select township roads. 

Ambridge Borough

Ambridge will hold its clean up from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20. Meet at the Polish Falcons of America, 529 Eighth St. Gloves, vests and garbage bags will be provided. Free lunch for all volunteers after clean up. The event is sponsored by The Committee to Clean and Beautify Ambridge and PennDOT.

 

Tree Planting 

Sewickley Heights

Allegheny Land Trust in partnership with the PA Game Commission is holding an Audubon Greenway Tree Planting Party. Meet at Hall’s Field, 202 Barberry Road, Sewickley Heights from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 25. 

Volunteers are needed and encouraged to participate. Email Emilie Rzotkiewicz at erzotkiewicz@alleghenylandtrust.org.

Sewickley Borough

Sewickley borough will host its annual tree planting ay 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 27.

The public is invited to join the Sewickley Tree Commission in the effort. Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the public works location on Washington Street behind the municipal building. 

Preliminary work to prepare the site for planting runs from April 22 through April 27. The Tree Commission has planted more than 1,100 trees in Sewickley over the course of 14 years, according to the borough.
