Get Out: Wash-n-Wine, Tony Campbell or Penguins on Parade

Larry's Laundromutt, Sweetwater and the Pittsburgh Zoo are all options for your weekend.

1. Wash-n-Wine: Be My Fur'ever Valentine 

When/Where: 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at the Larry's Laundromutt, 201 Ohio River Blvd., Edgeworth.

Why Go: Volunteers will wash and dry your dog (a $22-$45 value) while you relax and enjoy wine or cider, snacks and hors d'oeuvres.  No dog?  No problem. Everyone is welcome. Enter for a chance to win gift baskets or a free dog wash for a year.

Admission: $10 donation benefits the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society.


2. Tony Campbell

When/Where: 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8 at Sweetwater Center for the Arts, 200 Broad St., Sewickley. 

Why Go: Enjoy jazz on Fridays all month long at Sweetwater. Saxophonist Tony Campbell plays straight ahead jazz inspired by Coltrane, Parker and Turrentine

Admission: $10-$15 in advance $12-$18 on the day of the event. Purchase by calling the Sweetwater office at 412-741-4405 or by visiting the Sweetwater office. 

 

3. Pancake Breakfast

When/Where: 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Saturday Feb. 9 at St. Matthews Church, corner of Walnut and Thorn streets.

Why Go:  The public is invited each Saturday morning in February to enjoy pancakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice in good company.

Admission: Freewill offering.

 

4. Penguins on Parade

When/Where: noon Saturday, Feb. 9 at Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium.

Why Go: See the penguins step outside to enjoy the chilly winter. Kings, gentoos and macaronis will waddle down the hill outside of PPG Aquarium, then back up to the top. 

Admission: Free with zoo admission.

 

5. Wine and Chocolate Experience

When/Where: 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at Old Economy Village, 270 16th St., Ambridge.

Why Go: Visit 20 merchants to enjoy a taste of wine and chocolate treats. Social event begins at 5 p.m. with music and prizes at Old Economy Village.

Admission: $15 per person or $25 per couple.
