Heritage Valley Health System Outsources Security Services

The health system hired a Conshohocken-based national firm to take over its security services.

A national firm has taken over security services for Heritage Valley Health System, including its Sewickley hospital.

Dan Murphy, Heritage Valley spokesman, told the Beaver County Times that as of May 8, Allied Barton will take over security services for the Sewickley and Beaver campuses and Staunton Clinic in Rochester.

Murphy didn't specify numbers, but told the Times that all current staff would be offered a chance to interview for positions with Allied Barton or apply for existing open positions.

Heritage Valley's security staff also will be offered severance and outplacement assistance in accordance with the human resources policy, Murphy told the Times.

The newspaper says the outsourcing comes two months after the health system closed its in-house laundry and hired Paris Healthcare Linen Services of DuBois in Clearfield County to take over its laundry services.

Murphy said Heritage Valley must make difficult decisions like these "to ensure that our health system remains viable and competitive well into the future."

Based in Conshohocken, AlliedBarton has more than 55,000 employees, 120 regional and district offices and more than 3,300 customers nationwide, according to the company's website.
