New Year's in the Sewickley Valley: What's Open, What's Closed

Safran's Market – Open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 and open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1. 

Giant Eagle – Open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 and open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Rite Aid - Open normal hours 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, and Tuesday, Jan. 1.  Pharmacy hours are normal from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1. 

Sewickley Public Library –  Library closes early at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 and closed Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Sewickley Valley YMCA - Recreational Hours 5:15 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1.  During holiday hours of operation baby-sitting will be closed. The warm water pool will be open for Family Swim from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. All programs will resume on the following business day. Children under the age of 14 are asked to follow youth hours on holidays.

Post Offices – Open Monday, Dec. 31 and closed Tuesday, Jan 1.

State Stores - Open Monday, Dec. 31 until 8 p.m. (Quaker Village store closes at 7 p.m.) and closed Tuesday, Jan. 1. 

District Judge Office - Open Monday, Dec. 31 and closed Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Quaker Valley School District – School resumes on Monday, Jan. 7.

Sewickley Academy – School resumes Monday, Jan. 7.

Municipal Offices - Closed Monday, Dec. 31 and Tuesday, Jan. 1. (including Aleppo, Bell Acres, Edgeworth, Glenfield, Glen Osborne, Haysville, Leetsdale, Leet, Sewickley, Sewickley Heights, Sewickley Hills).

Port Authority of Allegheny County - About 30 Port Authority bus routes will be detoured in Downtown Pittsburgh and the North Shore on Monday, Dec. 31 due to First Night festivities. Additionally, transit riders should be aware of holiday service details.

First Night-related detours are scheduled to begin at approximately 10 a.m. and will be in effect through the end of service that night. Riders should allow for extra time when traveling on New Year’s Eve. 

Port Authority service will follow schedules as noted below:

• Monday, Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve): Weekday schedules in effect and the Customer Service phone line is open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Downtown Service Center will be open regular hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and this is the last day to exchange outdated fare tickets at the Service Center. 
• Tuesday, Jan. 1 (New Year’s Day): Holiday schedules in effect. Customer Service phone line will be open on holiday hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Downtown Service Center is closed. For more information, call Port Authority Customer Service at 412-442-2000 or the TTY number, 412-231-7007.
