Pittsburgh International Airport Releases Travel Stats for 2013

AirTran and Southwest saw increases in 2013 air traffic, while U.S. Airways and Delta were on the decline.

More flights and more seats were available for Pittsburgh International Airport travelers in March 2013 compared to March 2012, according to new figures the Allegheny County Airport Authority released.

Travelers flying through were up 2 percent, and available seats were up 4.5 percent. 

Five airlines reported increases in traffic through Pittsburgh International from 2012 to 2013:

  • AirTran: 13.5 percent increase in traffic with 94,334 passengers flying. 
  • Southwest: 5.5 percent increase with 120,823 passengers flying.
  • United: 2.1 percent increase with 109,614 passengers flying. 
  • American: 1.5 percent increase with 51,008 passengers flying. 
  • Air Canada: 9.4 percent increase with 3,724 passengers flying.

  • U.S. Airways: 14.7 percent decrease with 169,567 passengers flying.   
  • Delta: 5.5 percent decrease with 113,618 passengers flying.
  • JetBlue: 42.1 percent decrease with 14,303 passengers flying.

Overall traffic dropped 3.6 percent for the month and year-to-date scheduled totals show scheduled traffic down 1.9 percent.
