Pretty in Pink: Quaker Volleyball Players Go Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Players, coaches and spectators show support with pink socks, shirts and head-bands.

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the y girls volleyball teams hosted a "Pink Out" Thursday night for its varsity and JV match against South Fayette. Support came from players, coaches and spectators in the form of pink socks, shirts, head-bands and shoes.

Quaker Vally parent Jennifer Andrews, a breast cancer survivor, made the ceremonial first serve to get the varsity game started. Andrews was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003 and is an eight-year survivor.

The volleyball boosters sold pink "Dig for a Cure" T-shirts along with pink Quaker Valley shirts. Concession stand treats included pink ribbon cookies and a raffle took place, with proceeds from the sales to benefit .
