QV Invites Parents to Second 'Promoting Excellence' Workshop

The free workshop series is designed to assist parents with understanding successful behavior and with developing academic habits at home.

On Wednesday, Quaker Valley School District is offering the second in a series of free parent workshops.

The program "Promoting Excellence at Home" runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Osborne Elementary. Dinner and childcare will be provided.

Author and eductor Don Sheffield along with Terry Bradford, community liaison, are presenting the series. More than 70 parents attended the first workshop in November, according to the school district.

Bradford said every parent was given a copy of Sheffield's book and some homework to bring back. She said parents are welcome, regardless of whether they attended the first workshop. Bradford said books are also available for those who did not receive one.

The workshops are designed to provide strategies and assist parents in understanding successful behavior, and support parents in developing habits at home to ensure proper academic and personal development and growth.
