Severe Weather Expected to Continue

Flood and severe thunderstorm warnings continue in Allegheny County.

Severe thunderstorms swept through Sewickley and the region Monday afternoon flooding several local roads and those in neighboring communities.

Approximately 3,200 Duquesne Light customers were out of service as of 6 p.m., following this afternoon’s thunderstorms. 

Joey Vallarian, spokesman for Duquesne Light said most of these are located in the eastern and southern portions of Allegheny County.  Vallarian said crews are still assessing the damage caused by the winds and lightning.

A flood warning continues to be in effect until midnight. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. this evening.

As of 5:55 p.m., about one to two inches of rain had fallen across the region, according to the National Weather Service. Additional rainfall of one to two inches is possible where rain persists.

Residents along streams and creeks should be alert for rising water levels.
