The National Weather Service even dropped its winter weather advisory for snow that originally was in effect from 5 a.m. Monday until 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Students eager for a day off from school peeked out of their windows this morning hoping to see snowman-making material on their front lawns, but instead saw only rain.
