2014 Passion Play Auditions Tri County Choir Institute
Auditioning for "Why Must He Die?"
Auditioning for the onstage cast of "Why Must He Die?", the musical
passion play of presented for the 23rd consecutive year by TriCounty
Choir Institute. will be held Sunday, February 9 from 2-6pm in the
choir room of St. John Neumann Parish on Rochester Road in Franklin
Park. There will be 11 performances during Lent at churches of
all denominations. It is written and directed by Linda Wallace of
Sewickley Hills. It is open to HS students and adults. There is no cost
to the cast member, but each will be given private singing and acting
lessons. "Why Must He Die?" is a meditation through music, liturgical
dance and drama on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. This is
done by using a play within a play. Throughout the trial of Jesus, the
action is stopped. The apostles and holy women are seen reflecting
on Jesus' life and reacting on what led Jesus to his death. They share
these thoughts with the audience as if they hypothetically would have
been allowed to observe the trial. Each participant is a character from
the Bible and each one has speaking lines and is on stage the entire
play and involved in all of the choral numbers. For more information,
please call 412-741-3463 or lindaswallace@comcast.net.
