AGH Events Mark National Donate Life Month

In recognition of National Donate Life Month, Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) will hold two events tomorrow, April 26, 2011, to pay tribute to both organ donors and their families and to the health care specialists who dedicate their lives to the organ transplantation process.

11 am – 1 pm: Transplant Recipient Parade
Organ transplant recipients will visit inpatient units throughout AGH to express their gratitude to the physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals who make organ transplantation a success.   Transplant recipients hope the vibrancy of their lives post-transplantation will further inspire the hospital’s healthcare team and remind them of how truly meaningful and life changing their work is.

2 pm – 3pm: Rose Garden Ceremony
Following brief remarks by representatives of the Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE) and AGH’s Transplant Team, organ recipients and the family members of organ donors will speak to how the organ transplantation process has affected their lives.  A rose bush and sitting bench will be dedicated in honor of them and all those who have donated organs to save the life of another.   The bush and bench will be placed in a garden adjacent to AGH’s chapel    The Ceremony will take place in AGH’s Magovern Conference Center Exhibit Hall.
