Watching Sensory-Friendly Films
For kids with sensory integration disorders taking a trip to the movie theaters can be unbearable. Could this be the answer?
They are dark, loud, smelly and sometimes scary.

My son with ADHD quit going to movie theaters several years ago. He could only last five minutes into the previews before saying, "It's too loud, let's leave!"

And my autistic son -- forget it. I would have never even considered taking him to a movie -- until today.
I had heard of sensory-friendly films before, but never really understood the concept.

I'm still a little shaky on the idea.
From what I understand, the lights are turned on and the volume is turned down. Kids don't have to stay seated. In fact, they are free to roam around and even make noise.
This may work for my kids -- maybe. Has anyone out there ever attended one of these sensory-friendly films?
I would love to hear first hand what it is like.
