Constance (Whitfield) McCandless

She was a long-time employee of Bell Telephone, beginning as a switchboard operator and retiring as a secretary.

Constance (Whitfield) McCandless, age 77, a 30 year resident of Bell Acres, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 18, 2013.

She was born on March 31, 1936 in Pittsburgh to the late Harry Charles and Elizabeth Margaret (Keir) Whitfield. On January 3, 2013, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard M. McCandless; also preceded by her sister Patricia N. Whitfield.

She was a long-time employee of Bell Telephone, beginning as a switchboard operator and retiring as a secretary.

Constance was a member of Aliquippa Christian Assembly and the Bell Pioneers.

She is survived by her sister Carol Westehoff, brother-in-law Robert K. McCandless; nephews Robert McCandless, Jr. and Timothy McCandless; niece Patricia Scott Derzipilski; great nieces and nephews Tracy Price, Danyel Flinchum (Keith), Richard Scott, Megan and Lauren Derzipilski; great nephew and nieces Austin Price, Cameron and Isabella Flinchum.

Constance requested no visitation or service. If desired, family suggests donations in her name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Arrangements by Copeland’s.
