Dan Creedon Midgett Jr.

Midgett served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943-44 as a pilot and flight instructor, then worked as a manager in the oil industry in Louisiana and Texas for 45 years with Chevron and other drilling contractors.

Dan Creedon Midgett Jr. of Sewickley passed away March 4, 2012 at Pristine Pines Assisted Living Home.

He was born October 1, 1924 in Rodanthe, North Carolina, the son of the late Zion and Lucretia Midgett.

He attended the University of Minnesota and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943-44 as a pilot and flight instructor. He then worked as a manager in the oil industry in Louisiana and Texas for 45 years with Chevron and other drilling contractors.

He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Betty Heisler Midgett, his daughter and son-in-law Mary Lyn and Lee McGinn of Sewickley, daughter Lois Kelley of Winston Salem, daughter Carol Levin of New Orleans, and son Dan Midget III of Fort Worth, Texas, brother Bill Midgett of New Orleans, nine grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Millicent of Elizabeth City N.C. and New Orleans , sister Hilda Brantley of Manteo, N.C. and Houma, Louisiana, and brother Lindsay Midgett of Houston, Texas.

A private interment of ashes will be held at Sewickley Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Sewickley Borough Tree Commission, 601 Thorn Street, Sewickley 15143.
