Dr. James E. Barrick, II, P.E.

For 45 years, he was a consulting Civil Engineer, most recently for Neville Township and Consol Energy and other numerous firms.

Dr. James E. Barrick, II, P.E., age 69, a resident for the past 34 years, formerly of Alliance, OH, passed away on Thursday at Sewickley Valley Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Canton, OH on April 18, 1942, son of the late James E. and Anjanette (Turner) Barrick. Beloved husband of 45 years and childhood sweetheart to Barbara (Grant) Barrick; loving father of Amy Coco (Jeff) of Indiana Township, Melissa McDaniel (Oladele) of Chicago, IL, and James Barrick III (Amanda) of Nashua, NH; proud grandfather of Jefrey Barrick, Cameron & Jordan Coco, Opale and Westley Barrick; loving brother of John Barrick (Daniel Wolfson) of Stow, OH and the late Scott Barrick; brother-in-law of Teresa Barrick-Sharrad of Louisville, OH; also many loving nieces and nephews.

Highly educated, Dr. Barrick graduated from Alliance High School in 1960; obtained his BS in 1964 in Physics, Mathematics, & History from Mt. Union College; Bachelor’s in Engineering in 1967 in Civil Engineering from Youngstown State University; M.S. in 1969 in Civil Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.

For 45 years, he was a consulting Civil Engineer, most recently for Neville Township and Consol Energy and other numerous firms.

His affiliations included American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Water Works Association (AWWA), Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), U.S. Society for Dams (USSD), Society of Mining, Metallurgy Exploration (SME), Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, and numerous other professional organizations.

He was the former Director of American Society of Civil Engineers, Pittsburgh Section.

When not working, he was often found playing pool or on the golf course (mostly in the woods). Well respected for his intelligence, we will always hold him in our memories, especially his sense of humor.

Memorial visitation today (Monday) 6-8 and Tuesday 1-5 at , 702 Beaver St.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society. Burial services will be private in Alliance, Ohio.
