Laura A. (Jacobson) Graden

Laura A. (Jacobson) Graden, 86, of Moon Township, and Acton ME, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2012.

Born October 12, 1925 in Worcestor, MA she was the youngest child of John and Anna (Johanson) Jacobson.

She is predeceased by 4 sisters and a brother. She was the beloved wife of Thurston H. Graden for 49 years, he is also deceased. She is the mother of Dale T. (Laura Guedes) Graden of Moscow ID, Gary J. (Maria Sodersten) Graden of Stockholm, Sweden and Beth Graden (Ken) Rom of Sewickley PA.

“Grandma” has 5 grandchildren, Luisa Graden, Johan Graden, Filip Graden, Max Rom and Charlie Rom. She was “Auntie Laura” to many dear nieces and nephews and their children.

Laura attended Worcestor State Teachers College in Worcestor before moving to Philadelphia. She and Thurston raised their family in Barrington RI before moving to Statesboro GA where he taught at Georgia Southern State University. After she was widowed, Laura moved to Western PA to be close to family.

Laura had energy, humor and a huge zest for life. Her passion for music started at a young age and was always with her. As a young woman she sang professionally in Worcestor and Philadelphia. She lived waiting for the next adventure, trip or gathering with family and friends.

Her children, grandchildren and extended family were her pride and joy. She crocheted many afghans, they are scattered around this country and Sweden. Laura was proud of her heritage. She possessed a great spirit and she brought those she loved together.

Burial will be on Thursday, May 10th at 11:00 am at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Barrington RI. A memorial service of song will be held at on Saturday May 12 at 3:00 p.m.
