Mary Dorchek

A prayer will be offered followed by a church service in the SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church with Father Walter Wysochansky officiating.

Mary Dorchek, 90, formerly of Edgeworth and a former resident of Cambridge Village, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, in West Hills Health and Rehab Center, Moon Township.

Born June 22, 1922, in Sewickley, she was the daughter of the late Max and Anna Denys Kisio. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ambridge, where she was a faithful pieroghy worker for many years, and enjoyed playing bingo. Mary was also a member of the Leetsdale VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the UNA Lodge 161, Ambridge.

Surviving are two grandchildren, Dennis Helterbran, Canton, OH and Debra (Jerry) Yankello, Sewickley; four great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Madison Helterbran and Brian and Brandon Yankello; a sister, Anne Oros, Cambridge Village; two brothers, Frank Kisio, Baden and Steve Kisio, Center Twp. and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Kordecki, who was killed in action at sea during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and her second husband, John J. Dorchek; a daughter, Nancy Lewis, in 2006; a sister, Rose Robilard, and three brothers, Mike, Nick and John Kisio.

Friends were received Monday in the John Syka Funeral Home Inc., 833 Kennedy Drive, Ambridge, where a prayer will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday followed by a church service at 10 a.m. in the SS. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church with Father Walter Wysochansky officiating.

Interment will follow in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
