Paul L. Walls

Paul was born in Sewickley and graduated from Leetsdale High School.

Paul L. Walls, 87, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 31, 2013, at Omni-Manor in Youngstown, OH.

Paul was born Sept. 18, 1925, in Sewickley, the son of Paul L. and Vera Smith Walls.

He graduated from Leetsdale High School. He worked at National Electric during World War II and attended Geneva College in Beaver Falls, majoring in engineering. He later attended Nyack College in Nyack, NY, graduating with a bachelor's degree in music. Traveling with the college choir as their tenor soloist, he also sang weekends with a quartet.

Paul loved sports and played baseball and basketball with his college.

On Aug. 12, 1949, he married Gladys Brandfass Walls. They loved and raised three children, Sheryl (James) Diyorio of Austintown, Paul (Deborah) of Niles and Janice (Anthony) Conturillo of Hudson. They love their seven grandchildren, Rebekah, Brian, Andrea, David, Joshua, Emily and Amanda.

He directed the choir of Sewickley Baptist Church while working as draftsman at American Bridge Company in Ambridge. After five years, he moved to Ohio to direct choir of Christian Missionary Alliance Church on Youngstown Road, which later became North Mar Church of Christian and Missionary Alliance. He was there and at Wean Engineering until he retired in 1985.

As a sports lover, he coached kids' and men's softball teams and bowled until his health stopped him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James.

A funeral service took place Wednesday at Crown Hill Chapel Mausoleum in Vienna, OH with Pastor John Weisman officiating.

Burial will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park.

Services were handled by Selby-Heavilin Funeral Home in Vienna.
