The General Election Debacle for the GOP

Gingrich and Santorum Bear Great Responsibility for Romney Stumble=

As the GOP engages in soul-searching and analysis of how it could lose a presidential election against a deeply flawed incumbent, none should be under a brighter glare than Mitt Romney's vicious primary election opponents, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum.

As President Obama was sitting pretty with no primary election challenger, Gingrich and Santorum savaged Romney, even stooping to challenge his entrepreneurial skill, which has enabled him to accumulate vast wealth, something which was portrayed as an unforgivable sin.  Santorum stated at one low point within his campaign that it would not make much difference whether President Obama was re-elected or Mitt Romney placed in office; this is a member of the Republican Party?  By the time Gingrich and Santorum sought to turn one hundred eighty degrees to pay lip service to how important it is to elect Governor Romney, it was too late.  The damage was done and the election was lost.

I do not mean to imply that the primary election slaughter was the sole reason for an often-incompetent, foot-in-mouth, caterer-to the-far-right GOP presidential candidate to lose, but it served to place President Obama with a strong thumb on the scale going into the general election.

Strange, I have heard no apology from either know-it-all Gingrich or Santorum.  How do they show their faces again as members in good standing of the Republican Party?  How can they not be ashamed?
