Smart Meters - continuing Bad News for PA.

Smart Meters - continuing Bad News for YOU
What can you do? -Read on.
.
Many legislatures imposed Smart Meters all over the world. And the bad news keeps coming.
Where studied, beforehand, they’ve been stopped, as they just did in Germany.
This month, Britain joins in the serious cautions about Smart Meters; “The government’s initiative to have smart meters installed in every household in the UK by 2020 will, ironically, cost bill payers an extra £1.8 billion for their energy, three of the country’s largest providers have warned - for no benefit.
In Pennsylvania, despite pleas to the Consumer Advocate and the Attorney General, the programs’ costs/benefits remain UNSTUDIED. Last year we wrote Attorney General Kane, certified mail, asking for an investigation –and NO response. Earlier this year, our Consumer Advocate, was asked to do the same, again by certified mail, with no response, yet….
We are not asking for something unusual –just a rational investigation, such as those done in several states, where their AG’s challenge Smart Meters as COSTLY and do NOT Save Energy.
Pennsylvania's not studied the cost issue, tho' many states have. A few examples: AG’s in Connecticut, Illinois and Michigan find Smart Meter costs are not justified by savings.
Maine found their costs have increased!
Rhode Island joins the protest against Smart Meters.
Lest we forget, there are other issues, besides the sheer economic folly:
  • Smart Meters will control your usage –tune you down what you get & control your thermostat. See Wall Street Journal's TAKE
• Smart Meters will record and report on your activity – when you arise, when you are NOT home…

• Smart Meters are Hackable -If Duquesne Light can shut me off, remotely - so can Kim Jung-Un or China
Further, FBI says:"Smart Meter Hacks Likely to Spread
• Smart Meters transmit usage date every 15 or 30 minutes, a tragic intrusion for the 2.4% of our population who are sensitive to radio emissions.

So, what to do? Pennsylvanians - The Consumer Advocate cannot, she said, respond to ordinary folks -but will respond to our legislators.

So, please call your Pennsylvania State Reps and Senators:
Ask them to contact: Ms. Tanya J. McCloskey, Acting Consumer Advocate 555 Walnut Street, 5th Floor, Forum Place, Harrisburg, PA 17101-1923
800-684-6560
Ask her to investigate Smart Meter Costs/Benefits as other states have done.
ALSO, while you're 'at bat', ask your Representative and Senator to support:  HB 899 -Repeal the Smart Meter MANDATE

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
