District Court: Suspect Waives Business Burglary Charges to Court

A Coraopolis man waived his right to a preliminary hearing last week at District Judge Robert Ford's office on charges that he  from several Sewickley businesses.  

David Jablonsky, 24, is charged with . His case now is bound over to Allegheny County Common Pleas Court.  

Allegheny County Police detectives reported that Jablonsky on Sept. 24 distracted the owners of by inquiring about a television and asking for a remote control. Owner Frank Yankello went to retrieve the remote while Michael Yankello was on the telephone in the back of the business, police said.

Police said Jablonsky left the store claiming he would return to purchase a television. Police said the owners found $300 in cash was missing from a bank money pouch after he left.

On Sept. 26, police said Jablonsky went to  boutique, where he said he wanted to purchase a gift for a female relative. Owner Maria Mickey told police she showed several clothing items to Jablonsky, who eventually told her he was leaving and would return with his female relative. After he left, police said Mickey noticed $900 was missing from her purse and more money was missing from the cash register.

Police obtained Jablonsky's image from surveillance video, and a tip helped identify him. Police said Mickey and Frank Yankello identified Jablonsky after viewing a photo lineup.

He remains in jail, unable to post $10,000 bond.

 

The following people were charged and scheduled for preliminary hearings Oct. 25 at  office in Leetsdale:

Waived

  • Elliot Murray Sr., 47, of Ambridge, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving. Leetsdale Police reported that Murray was stopped Aug. 6 on Route 65 at Cross Street as part of a West Hills DUI Task Force operation. Police said Murray refused a blood-alcohol test.
  • Amy Stroud, 48, of Sewickley, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving. Sewickley Police said they stopped Stroud’s vehicle was stopped Sept. 11 in Sewickley after seeing the car swerving, drifting, braking and striking a curb. Police said Stroud refused a blood-alcohol test.

  • Timothy Tindall, 35, of Ambridge, charged with driving under suspension and marijuana possession. At 2:15 p.m. Aug 21, reported officers stopped Tindall’s vehicle in the 800 block of Route 65 as part of a West Hills DUI Task Force operation. Police said Tindall admitted he was driving while his license was suspended. While talking to Tindall, officers said they smelled marijuana and saw what appeared to be a partly burned marijuana cigarette sitting on top of an energy drink in the center console cup holder. Police said they retrieved two bags of marijuana from the car.
  • William Fortuna, 25, of Baden, charged with simple assault.  reported that Fortuna punched a woman in the face about 7:30 p.m. July 20. Police said the woman had visible bruises.
  • Adam Phillips, 33, of Crafton, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving. reported that Phillips was stopped Aug. 6 on Route 65 at Cross Street as part of the West Hills DUI Task Force operation. Police said Phillips admitted to having too much to drink. Police reported a blood-alcohol level of 0.216 percent, above the state’s 0.08 percent limit for drunken-driving.

Warrant issued

  • Victoria Reagan, 39, of Sewickley, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under suspension and reckless driving. Leetsdale Police reported that Reagan was stopped Aug. 6 on Route 65 at Cross Street as part of the West Hills DUI Task Force operation. Police reported a blood-alcohol level of 0.161 percent, above the state limit for drunken-driving.
