Delivery Driver Knocks Down Stop Sign, Charged with DUI

An injured delivery driver who was taken Sunday to Allegheny General Hospital after falling off the back of his truck has been charged with drunken driving, reported.

Charges were filed Monday against Brian Maclean, 43, of Beamsville, Ontario, who suffered a severe cut on his leg and ankle while making a delivery to , 527 Blackburn Road. Maclean is a driver for Beamsville-based Foliera Logistics Inc.

A witness told police that Maclean drove over and knocked down the stop sign at the intersection of Blackburn Road and Centennial Avenue, police said. A makeshift stop sign has been placed at the intersection for motorists.

Police said Maclean also asked the man if he would go inside his truck and take the alcohol before police arrived, police said.

Officers found an opened can of nearly empty Natural Ice beer on the floor between the seats. Police also found an open case of the beer with two cans missing in the sleeper area of the truck and a fifth of Schenley Golden Wedding Canadian whiskey inside an open duffel bag.

An ambulance transported Maclean to the Pittsburgh hospital to be treated, and he was given a blood-alcohol test at the hospital. Results were not reported.
