The following people were charged and scheduled for preliminary hearings Feb. 1 at District Judge Robert Ford's office in Leetsdale:

Held for Court

  • David Beilstein, 27, of Pittsburgh, charges of burglary, criminal solicitation, criminal conspiracy, theft and receiving stolen property. Ohio Township Police said Beilstein and another man took $283 in copper piping Nov. 30 from a home on Redgate Road in Aleppo Township.
  • Helen Hoey, 44, of Timberglen Road, Wexford, charged with two counts of driving under the influence, and one count each of careless driving, driving without a license, driving without headlights. Sewickley Police reported Hoey was driving on the wrong side of Thorn Street in the borough on Oct. 31. Her vehicle was stopped in the 300 block of Thorn and police reported a blood-alcohol level of 0.12 percent.
  • Rhameicka Clark, 23, of Aliquippa, charged with criminal mischief. Leetsdale Police reported that Clark keyed someone's vehicle Sept. 12 outside of Mike's Place, 19 Ferry St., causing $1,365 in damage.

  • Justin Lubert, 22, of Freedom, Beaver County, charged with theft, driving while suspended, and receiving stolen property, reduced to non-traffic, ordered to pay fines of $300 each and court costs. Leetsdale Police reported Lubert took three rolls of aluminum fence and two aluminum truck rims worth $500 Jan. 21 from a junk yard at 114 Ohio River Boulevard. The victim followed Lubert and police stopped his pickup, police reported.

Waived to Court

  • Steven Hovis, 27, of Butler, charged with criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen property, and theft. Ohio Township Police said Beilstein and another man took $283 in copper piping Nov. 30 from a home on Redgate Road in Aleppo Township.
  • Brandon Simmons, 23, of Aliquippa, charged with criminal mischief. Leetsdale Police said Simmons caused $2,200 worth of damage to the men's bathroom at Mike's Place, 19 Ferry St., Leetsdale on Sept. 4, following an argument over the phone with Simmons' mother. 
  • Dennis Cullens, 24, of Carnegie, charged with two counts of driving under the influence. Sewickley police said Cullens' vehicle was stopped Dec. 10 on Route 65 in Glenfield after the car was seen swerving. Police reported Cullens blood-alcohol-content was 0.179 percent.

Postponed

  • Todd Viola, 33, of Railroad Avenue, Sewickley, charged with simple assault and harassment, postponed.  Sewickley Police said Viola on Jan. 22 struck a woman in the face.
  • Edward Hopkins, 38, of South Beaver Township, Beaver County, charged with making terroristic threats, simple assault, defiant trespass and harassment. Sewickley Heights Police said a witness on Dec. 11 saw someone shoot a deer from a pickup on Waterworks Road, then watched 10 minutes later as Hopkins and another man exited a second vehicle, ran into the woods and dragged the deer out.

Warrant Issued

  • James Yeckel, 52, of Pittsburgh, charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and obstructing highways, warrant issued for his arrest. Ohio Township Police reported Yeckel was standing in the middle of the Route 65 near the Glenfield Viaduct on Jan. 8 when police saw him. The officer stopped to see if Yeckel was OK and asked to see his identification. Police said Yeckel became irate and started yelling, acting uncontrollable and disobeying police orders.
