The following people were charged and scheduled for preliminary hearings April 5  at District Judge Robert Ford's office in Leetsdale:

Held for court

  • William J. McCracken, 45, of Aleppo, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to yield at an intersection. Police responded Feb. 6 at 10:38 p.m. to the intersection of Route 65 and Beaver Street for a report of a head-on collision in Glen Osborne. Police said McCracken had facial injuries and was smoking and eating crackers outside his pickup when they arrived.  McCracken told police he turned left from Route while 65 attempting to drive up Redgate Road. McCracken was transported to Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital, where he consented to a blood-alcohol test. Test results are pending, police said.

  • Michael DePace, 24, of Sewickley, initially charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and public drunkenness. Sewickley Police reported that DePace threw a beer in a woman's face Jan. 9 at Pizza Roma on Beaver St., striking the woman in the face with a glass and causing a 2- to 3-inch cut above the woman's eye. She was treated at Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital. DePace pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $100 fine and restitution.

Withdrawn

  • Leland Young, 20, of Leetsdale, charged with aggravated assault, harassment and possession of drug paraphernalia. Young was accused of striking his mother with a belt on Oct. 28, leaving numerous marks and bruises, Leetsdale police reported. Charges against Young were withdrawn.
