The following people were charged and scheduled for preliminary hearings Aug. 2:

  • Dajuan Hackett, 29, of Youngstown, Ohio, charged with theft of services. said Hackett went into the GetGo gas station on May 13 with his Advantage Card and asked the store clerk to turn on the pump. Police said Hackett pumped $70 in gasoline into his car and left without returning to the store to pay. The store clerk looked up Hackett’s personal information in the computer system by using his Advantage card. Police also obtained video surveillance footage of the transaction along with footage of Hackett applying for an Advantage card in the Leetsdale Giant Eagle.
  • Kasey Johnson, 37, of Pittsburgh, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, careless driving, speeding and failing to obey traffic signals. Pennsylvania State Police reported on May 7 that officers were called to a one-vehicle accident on Route 65 near the Interstate79 interchange in Glenfield. Police said Johnson’s car had severe damage and he had been taken by ambulance to UPMC Mercy hospital in Pittsburgh. Police said Johnson suffered facial and foot injuries and told officers during an interview at the hospital that he drank two beers at a party and wasn’t wearing a seatbelt. Troopers  reported his blood-alcohol content was 0.223 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08 percent for intoxication.

  • Justin Irwin, 33, of Monaca, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving. reported that on June 22 police stopped a car after an officer saw it swerving on Route 65. After giving Irwin a field-sobriety test, police took him to Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital for a blood-alcohol test. Police did not report the test results.
  • Candice Moore, 27, of Aliquippa, charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Sewickley Police said they stopped Moore on June 17 after seeing her vehicle drifting between lanes in the 300 block of Route 65.  Police said Moore failed a field sobriety test and was taken to Heritage Valley hospital for a blood-alcohol test. Police reported a blood-alcohol content of 0.187 percent.
